Are You The Person To Learn Guitar?

Many peoples are thinking of learning guitar and hope that one day they can play and sing like Eric Clapton. Have you been trying hard to learn playing guitar but does not achieve much? Does that make you think that you don't have what it takes to learn guitar. In my humble opinion, guitar is one of the easiest to learn musical instrument. Guitar is also a common and popular among the string based musical instrument. At least, I haven't seen a band that without a guitarist.

Just like most of the other guitarist, I learnt to play guitar when I was young and studying in college. The only reason for me to learn was to attract attention of my then secret admirer...The romantic moment is still fresh in my memory whenever I play the same old song that I used to sing to my girlfriend(s....).

However, there are certain criteria that you must equip with in order to make sure a smooth learning process.

1. The Relevance of Musical Talent

Many will be hesitated because they believe that they don't have the talent in music. It will be helpful if you have the musical talent. However, if you don't feel that you are talented, don't worry. Just like any other skill you would like to pick up, you need to have the strong desire to learn. Without musical talent, you might take longer and little harder in the beginning, but soon you'll find it to be similar to learning any skill.

2. Are you ready?

Do not over invest by signing for an expensive lesson and buying an expensive guitar in the beginning. Start small by buying a budget guitar or using your friend's guitar. Ask your friend teach you a few basic technics. After a while, you will be clearer if guitar is for you. Learning to play guitar is like learning any other skill. You must devote some time to it - even if it's only ten or twenty minutes a day. This should be a time of total concentration when you can block out the cares of work and life to work on your lessons and practice.

3. Physical Health and Playing the Guitar

Your body's physical health is also important. Playing guitar requires holding a guitar in an upright position, either resting on your legs or held upright by a shoulder strap. Consider the strength of your back, shoulders, arms and legs. A person who suffers from severe lower back pain may find it difficult to hold a guitar for any length of time. Practice to hold your friend's guitars to test it out if you are comfortable with the posture.

Besides, you also need a reasonably strong hands, fingers and wrists. Some conditions that could hinder your playing ability include arthritis, carpal tunnel or frequent swelling of the wrists or fingers. For sure, no more long finger nails for the ladies. Ask yourself, are you ready to scarify?

4. Is it the end of It If You Have Any Of The Above Condition?

Surely not! Even if you have an unfavourable condition for playing guitar, that doesn't mean you will never make it to play good guitar. You can do some research or speak to expert to find out if there are ways to work around your disability or weakness. For example, if you wrist is weak, the problem can be resolved by using a wrist support.

Compare to other musical instrument, guitar is the one that you can start with just a small investment. Since you are using your fingers to play, you will be able to sing along just like a pianist but Pianist won't be able to carry their piano freely as compare to a guitar.

Playing the guitar is a great way to express yourself through music. If you feel a strong urge to learn to play the guitar, Let's start to assess yourself and determine if you're ready to take this giant step.
