What is the right guitar for you?
Guitars are found all around the world and come in many shapes and sizes. Guitars are also made up of different types of wood. Entry-level guitars are usually made entirely of laminated wood. Quality guitars are available at all different price ranges, so don't feel that you have to break the bank to get what you need.
Acoustic
Acoustic guitars are used in a variety of different genres across the globe. Acoustic guitars are also characterized by a weak sustain, meaning notes will fade after being struck. The term "acoustic guitar" is a retronym, since before the invention of the electric instrument, all guitars were "acoustic. Typically, a steel-string acoustic guitar is built with a larger soundbox than a standard classical guitar. One variation on the standard acoustic guitar is the 12-string guitar, which sports an additional doubling string for each of the traditional six strings.
Bass
Bass guitars usually have four strings, but can have as many as twelve. Bass guitar necks can be fretted or fretless. Bass guitars have very thick strings, enabling them to play very low notes. Beginners and expert players alike can express themselves through deep rich tones and funky bass riffs with a bass guitar.
Electric
Electric guitars are not limited to the acoustical qualities of the acoustic guitar shape, and thus can be more comfortable to play. Electric guitars have a variety of body styles, pickups, bridge and neck joint to choose from. An electric bass guitar has a solid body, which houses magnetic pickups. Some guitars are sold with electronic pickups installed, but these are not considered electric guitar, they are acoustic electrics. The electric guitar is the workhorse of rock music, but it is used in other genres such as blues, jazz and pop music.
Classical
Classical vintage acoustic guitars: Classical vintage acoustic guitars can also fall under the category of vintage acoustic guitars. Classical guitars of the past have typically been made with thick neck dimensions, while this promoted a certain amount of neck stability, it often made certain playing aspects difficult to execute. Classical guitars are more commonly played using finger picking for country blues, ragtime and folk.
